Education Initiatives


Education in India is growing at a very rapid rate. Time and again various initiatives are taken by the government to improve the standard of education in India.


GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES Rs. 2113 CRORE FOR IITs & NITs:

  • Government has proposed full interest subsidy scheme on education loans for poor students pursuing technical and professional courses in approved institutions.
  • The scheme will cover loans taken by such students from scheduled banks to pursue any approved course in technical and professional streams at recognized institutes in the country
  • However only those students whose family income is less than Rs. 4.5 Lakhs per annum will be eligible under this scheme
  • The higher education budget is pegged at Rs. 15,429 cores including a planned allocation of Rs 9600 core.
  • It has allocated Rs. 2113 Crore for IITs & NITs pan- India.
  • The UGC has been allocated Rs. 4374.95 crore which includes expenditure for both central & deemed universities.
  • The proposed allocation for Panjab university has been pegged at Rs. 50 crore to improve the facilities and upgradation.

PAN IIT ALUMNI TEAM PRESENTED 5 POINT ACTION PLAN TO REFORM HIGHER EDUCATION:

  • The alumni has presented a white paper outlining 5 point agenda and set ambitious target for country for 2022 that entails 70 crore globally employable workforce comprising 20 crore university graduates and 50 crore vocationally skilled people.
  • The 5 pronged action plan includes implementation of comprehensive reforms in policies & governance; mandating quality; enabling quantum improvement in faculty service conditions; deployment of technology for teaching & collaborative research & establishing an active industry academicia interface.

The alumni chairman Mr. Ashok Desai – founder of Mastek Ltd shared that government needs to encourage public- private partnership, FDi , quality university education, independent accredition for rating system & autonomy in governance in order to achieve the set targets.
